NO FLOWERS FOR THE FALLEN
the heart knows where love resides
even if it’s total darkness inside
cold, old, wavy and damp
it lightens with its own special lamp
the fallen gave too much, many more
even when their feet goes sore
“humanity” their watchword
looked beyond the hatred and the flood
right course for the right reasons
their minds became a prison
head raised high for a better course
refusing to give up despite the cause
but at the end, no flowers
despite the fight for balance of power
they, lying in their grave cold and unappreciated
forgotten by the lives they emanated
no flowers for the fallen
the battles were tough but they kept on working
ignoring the pains beneath their shirt
they never showed it, their fret

“No flowers for the fallen” hits differently because the poem isn’t only mourning their deaths—it’s mourning how quickly people forget those who sacrificed for a better world. They carried pain quietly, fought for what they believed was right, and still ended up unappreciated. The contrast between the light in the heart and the coldness of the grave makes this feel like a reflection on love, sacrifice, humanity, and the cruel reality of being forgotten. Heavy piece.
