OH! MY SLEEPING CHILD

keep resting, but don’t shut your eyes

out there is filled with too many freight

oh thou blest soul

keep your flames up in the cold

be on guard, no slouching

everything is falling apart, it’s ending

sleep is our proverbial enemy

hence their voices are set for your elegy

oh my sleeping child, wake up

the world is so cruel, don’t you give up

your head on a platter gives them momentum

they don’t care the season even if it’s autumn

comfort is a grave concern

ignore the contract, don’t you sign

wisdom will help you avert much

the real hypocrisy resides in the church

hey! Child, they aim for your jugular

always active all the senses in your medulla

for they will feast on your grave

your memory will be forever enslaved

oh! my sleep child

be on steroid, the world is wild

victory is guaranteed on the long run

the race started from the day we were born

  1. This feels like a parent’s warning to a child about the harsh realities of life. “Keep resting, but don’t shut your eyes” is such a powerful opening because it captures the whole message—find your peace, but never lose your awareness. The imagery of the fowler, the platter, and the race makes the poem feel like a battle for survival. But underneath all that darkness, there’s still hope: victory is guaranteed if you keep going. Very powerful piece. 🖤🔥
