SWITCHED OFF

 

I turned off my light 

my joy seems to radiate too bright 

I reduced the strings of my kite 

I’ll ignore my right 

I turned off my smile 

cause the world wants to take me for a ride 

lots of people don’t deserve your presence 

some derive joy at your absence 

I turned off my hug 

they prefer to see you pace like a slug

they pat your back with thorny hand

pain they can’t withstand 

I turned off my feelings 

sadness everywhere, no hope for the living 

to me, this is madness 

to the world, it is pure happiness 

I turned off my soul

it feels like I’m on a death roll 

life’s suffocating, can’t breathe 

no greenery, too many weed 

I switched off my light 

I hate the dark but it’s alright 

let me remain confined to my solitude 

I have nothing left to give, not even attitude
