TELL ME IT IS NOT OKAY
Is will never be okay
I’ll tell you the truth even if it isn’t okay
true words are heavy and weighty
this is wisdom but I’m not a deity
the world is dark and our hearts are whack
every sinners seems on track
their appetite is now insatiable
their ways are love-able
the focused you feels lost
you can’t have everything, it’s not a must
you feel your success is nothing but petit
everyday you’re threatened until you let it
nothing kills you more than expectations
a signal for a proclaimed pronunciation
here’s your accolade, you’ve made a significance
they will latch at your door to pay obeisance
the world is now rigged against prudence
if your heart is pure, that’s an offense
for your defense, you need to live under the radar
you are now the enemy, forget the latter
a loan gladdens the heart when received
I laugh at you, you have been deceived
you will pay back with your sweat and blood
till your lungs keeps screaming ‘oh! Lord’
tell me it is not okay even if it is
we are all degenerates at ease
appease your heart and soul at your own peril
nothing is fun anymore, no need to merry
a simple pat and smile are intentional
a genuine heart to hug you is optional
tell every soul you meet it is never okay
we all are on opium, life’s junky

This poem carries a painful honesty that hits deep. The way you spoke about expectations, survival, debt, and the emptiness hidden behind smiles feels very real and relatable. I love how raw and unapologetic the message is.
ReplyDelete“nothing kills you more than expectations” and “we all are on opium, life’s junky” are lines that will stay with me for a long time. Powerful piece.
