REMEMBER WHEN WE WERE YOUNG
remember when we were young
time stands still as sun burn
the weather pities not our skin
we are made of black, no defeat
with soiled fingers we mould
clays in hands as we fold
Images sculpted with passion
looking scary but made with love
remember when we were young
looking up to heavens to fly our kites
wind caressing its wings as levitated
our joy knew no bounds
trees bowing to the might winds
weather still dark in the early morning
no school for you, remain in your bed
a childhood memory to preserve
rolling tyres on the street with race
the road is free, doing it in grace
your tyre, a joy-giver
the best buddy you can ever have
dancing in a pouring rain in joy
barefoot to feel the earth
innocence will later make you shiver
you’ll fall sick with a mild fever
a stray dog stares at you on a lonely road
you pick up stone to ward it off
a hot pursuit ensures in a jiffy
you are left all sweaty and panting
remember when we were young
bees in the bush still we were stung
our curiosity pushes us into trouble
our punishment gets doubled
remember when we were young
the world is tough, we can’t relate
ours is to eat, play and fracture our bones
we don’t care if our family lives on a loan
