A JUXTAPOSING SILENCE

 

dawn is on its way 

and all we keep doing is pray  

another year is galloping off 

the whole world will soon call our bluff 

our usual chance to escape with a slight cough 

forgetting we are all in cuffs 

It is madness and we keep swimming in it 

why should we lose? a shameful defeat 

they are outnumbered but we cower 

our leaders are nothing but losers 

why should a part decide for a whole?

and here we are, our hands are in fold

“suffering and smiling” Fela called 

those animals we ought to maul 

a juxtaposing silence some calls it 

I hope you know time slips away in this feat 

they rule in fear, pilferers 

smiling at their banks in every arrears 

bullies we ought to castrate 

wipe them better koboko while they prostrate 

they burn bridges but rebuild for their own 

collect and pocket million foreign loans 

sugar coat manifesto to build castles in the air 

they are our nightmare 

our juxtaposing silence needs to roar 

we need to charge like a boar 

our continual silence gives them effrontery

they will keep milking us like lottery
