I AM NOT AFRAID

I am not afraid of pestilence and plague 

all I fear is people who are fake 

they offer to scratch your itch with knife 

always wanting to cut short your life 

I am not afraid of ten thousands arrows shot 

I know that is a whole lot 

all I fear is just an ungodly betrayal 

from a friend I trusted was loyal 

I am not afraid of the world “I love you”

from the lips of someone I admire so true 

all I fear is a stab behind my back 

from the one I never knew would attack 

I am not afraid of climbing the hills 

hiking that height to have that feel 

what if if slip and fall 

incapacitated that I can’t even crawl 

I am not afraid to a risk 

or do a walk in brisk 

what if it becomes my walk of death 

I hate to think of my wreath 

I am not afraid of what tomorrow brings 

so long I’m still on today’s wings 

whatever miracles it comes with 

I am ready, I am with my scythe
