WHY LOVE

 

retrogressions and setbacks in view 

our actions our thoughts are in review 

sink or swim is our motivator to ruins 

a steady love, and unshaken faith 

reality will dawn on us when we are late 

efforts pulled and not appreciated 

a shoulder for comfort but still relegated 

yet still, the world wants you to give more 

as constant sweats drips from your forehead 

when you slum, they will leave you for dead 

why love anything man

when you die, they will rip all the yams in your barn 

take your wife and strips down your clan 

why tell me the world is smooth and sweet 

when you die, you will understand the bass in a beat

hey! man, tell me again, why love everything?

despite all your efforts, you will be buried with nothing 

your destiny truncated in the cold 6 feet 

as time passeth, your wall frame is pulled down 

even by those you’d doubt will let you down

a heavyweight burden our shoulders carry 

despite it all, we have no choice but to marry 

peace of mind is already in pieces 

only a lucky fool meets his destined spouse 

others end up with an alluring eelpout

our life is for rent

ask yourself “why love”?

why love anything more than a dove 

the world is rigged against you man
