WHERE THE SOUL DWELLS

 

in our spine, our veins 

in all the chains in our bodies

in every cores of our souls 

they reside with peace and tranquility 

their hearts synchronize with our heartbeat 

their words, spoken subtle in whispers 

we hear them speak in distinct voices 

calling us to order 

they keep us warm always 

resetting tides in our favor 

“we are with you unhindered”

“our lineage must be preserved”

they laid the foundation we lay on now 

positioning our feet for the right course 

our hands are blessed because of them 

we are fortified and graceful

where the souls dwells we know 

deep down in the core of our souls

for our ancestors never slumber in Africa 

they stay alive to guide our trajectories
