NEVER FORGOTTEN

 

he swam hard to save lives 

despite he wasn’t part of the tragic boat wreck 

saved 13 lives, tired and weak but persisted 

Joseph Blankson couldn’t make it back ashore 

he died trying, his lungs filled up with water 

she pinned him down as he tried to flee 

everyone fled the room because of contamination 

but she stood and held him down as they shut the door

he mustn’t escape with this ebola

Ameyo Stella Adadevoh saved the country without a second thought 

heroes and heroines we ought to celebrate 

sacrificed their lives just for humanity sake 

but some fools sits at the top echelon 

consuming the masses resources without pity 

beckoning they should be called ‘messiah’

how well do you sleep at night with your eyes closed 

knowing you’ve plundered millions in abject poverty 

but you, smiling at your fat bank account 

having sleepless night because you’re calculating 

your next move of political heist 

your checkmate in this political chest 

your overblown rotund belly will explode soon

your intestines will sprint out with ecstasy 

your heart won’t stop to beat as this happens 

it’s rhythm, beautifully flow with each pain 

we will be there, the whole world will witness 

as you groan in pains and not one help comes forth 

as day gives way for night 

as light gives way for darkness 

so shall death give way for grim reaper 

who will slit your throat and rejoice as those red liquid flows out in tragic freedom 

your body will be buried with the finest coffin we know 

but the worms and cankerworms won’t pity your corpse 

the real heroes are gone but never forgotten 

they played their parts, grew unshaken in the thorns 

they fought for liberation with their sweat and blood 

which finally resulted to their demise

we will never forget their existence 

but as for you, you are cursed, woe betide you
