A KING AND MORE

 

a very long day indeed 

he who has long been away from home 

feeling fulfilled and giddy 

is on his way home to roost 

majestically walking home with pride 

head filled with adventurous attainments

the day is almost over 

the sun has resorted to bed 

his hands soiled and dirty 

dust wore him a garment of royalty 

his feet needs no pedicure tonight 

for there is pride in his foot prints 

his head plays scenarios of his games 

all the fun he had since morning 

his wins and losses 

he is proud of all his lost sweats

he kicks a plastic bottle and celebrated a goal 

mimics chirping and barks at dogs 

picks up stones and aims at the unknown 

danced unapologetically 

all of a sudden, he paused and starts sweating 

he immediately remembers he was sent on an errand 

his pocket empty, no money 

no nylon, no fufu 

what a cursed day

he has been sent errand since morning 

here he stands, nothing to show for

like a king, he walks on majestically with a smile
