THE LIKES OF YOU

 

you’re known for your wiles 

feeling smart in every situation

breaking hearts and sipping wines after 

yours is coming

you keep on ignoring their cries 

finish up your mission then walk away 

is it because you’re pretty or handsome?

your own day is coming 

you will one day meet the likes of you

you’ll be taught hard lessons 

maybe then you’ll realize how cruel you’ve been 

you will cry but tears won’t come out 

you can’t be smart for too long 

your heart will grow soft soonest 

then you will surely fall for the wrong one 

thinking “I’m still in the game, I know what I’m doing”

someone will outsmart you in your course 

smash your supposed hard heart, pull it out, rip it apart and toast it for a meal 

you will be served a remarkable breakfast 

all eyes will see you but none will hold pity
