I LOST IT ALL

 

I lost it all 

when they say “don’t get angry”

“be happy if anyone hurt and maim you”

“remain calm and endure the pains”

but… what if they take my life

I lost it all

when they say “always pray for evil to avert”

what if evil continues 

linger on for years and years 

won’t I get tired to pray?

I lost it all

when the world teaches me how to be me 

wanting to mould and shape me

I have freedom inside me abeg 

I am no marionette 

I lost it all 

when she did me wrong and left 

knowing I was at my most vulnerable period

then I’m told to forgive and move on

don’t advice me against revenge 

I lost it all

I got duped and robbed 

stabbed and left to die in the process

and now, the culprit is somewhere now lavishing 

and here I am languishing 

I lost it all

when I was born without my permission 

ushered into the world without a second thought 

fed cultures and tradition and stuffs

then named without my consent 

I lost it all

with human idiosyncrasies 

why pray for patience always 

let’s settle war for war 

and make the wicked cry too
