EVEN IN OUR OLD AGE

the price i paid in my youth

the love I gave you now I’m brut

I still have lots to give

I know you still believe

although we are now feeble and weak

our bodies sometimes go sick

you are forever pretty and young

right by yourself always is where I belong

forget the kids, they are married and gone

their children, our grandchildren playing on their lawn

but here we are, alone and professing

everyday with you feels new, I’ll keep confessing

even in our old age we stage

your skins wrinkled in vintage

I’ll always plug you early morning flowers

let them lay them on our caskets when time comes, I hope you don’t bother
