A TRAGIC GOODNIGHT

he wakes every morning
jumps into the street for multiple hustles
even if he feels lazy, he's got many mouths to feed
there and then while sweating under the sun
making his dough on his heels
a bullion van knocks him down and sped off
his pulse is faint
a tragic goodnight

she travels down to Lagos for survival
started selling agbo(herbs) to make a living
she was deceived and lured into an uncompleted building
gang raped and abandoned in misery
she bleeds profusely, weak and lost consciousness
her pulse is faint
a tragic goodnight

after learning the trade, he decided to setup
took huge loan from the bank and opened a store
slowly picking up as comrades grew jealous
late one night they set his shop ablaze
at first sight of the debris he slummed
his pulse is faint
a tragic goodnight

the lecturer fought his demons for a decade
he Prays silently "my profession, my temptation" Lord help me
despite all the advances, he constantly repeat his wedding vows
it is detrimental to live amongst temptations
the bible itself says "flee from it"
one day he fell thunderously but with a heavy bang
his first taste turned out to be his last
as he lies on the hotel bed unconscious
his pulse is faint
a tragic goodnight

she stands on the roof top of the three storey
admiring the distanced ground in depression
locking her mobile phone as she updated her status "at least, no one will miss me"
she wiped her tears once more and took a deep breathe
stepping at the edge, eyes closed, arms flung
she took the dive and landed thunderously
her pulse is faint
a tragic goodnight

he drinks just to forget his problems
little did he know that problems will wait till you're up
he constantly drown in liquor hoping his sorrows will drown too
but his health deteriorated too
he passed out on his couch after
hoping to wake up feeling better
yeah, better he could be if he had reconsider
now his pulse is faint
 a tragic goodnight

grandma was a very good old lady
she knew the odds was in her favour but she ignored
from dusk to dawn she laboured for more to feed her little grandchildren
her only son died in a tragic accident
she was depressed but had to be strong for her grandkids
as old as she was, she laboured for more ignoring her health
one day, she laid down beside a path, just a little rest to move on
shutting her eyes so the migraine will ease off
but her pulse is faint
a tragic goodnight
