AT THE EDGE
we, men, we live at the edge
the tiniest edge of sanity
just a little push, we are done for
falling into an abysmal depth of insanity
you wonder why we die young?
why we stay silent and don't utter words?
you wonder why we get pale in due time?
why we soliloquies with ourselves?
we bottle up emotions
toxicity injected in us by our counterpart
sometimes, just for peace sake
often times, not to soil our image
the society says "you are a man"
"be strong and stand firm"
"don't say a thing but walk away"
"you too dey talk, you be woman?"
but in us runs blood and antibodies
in us runs anger and pains
pains we ought to share to ease off
pains that slowly deteriorate our health
but you must be a man
have you forgotten it's a patriarchal society
no sign of weakness mehn!
don't ever let them see a tear on your face
but little do they know we are the most emotional
we are the softest of all creatures
whenever we cry in our private corners
depression consoles us
the weight of the world is always on our shoulders
you dare not drop it down hence
"you no be man, you be woman"
these lines has sent many men to their early graves
life! be soft on us
we have so much more to offer than just our caged being
million mental designs we can construct
rather than breathing our last unfulfilled
