WE FAILED
the world failed him
failed man without remorse
saddled with too much responsibility
pushing him beyond his ability
his mental health is left unchecked
not much care if his hair is unkempt
his heart and pocket size is significant
his smile should be recalcitrant
less help more expectations
less love no emotions
no tears for him until his demise
men recieve their first flowers at their funeral
his death springs a core reality
his coffin golden and alluring
on his grave engraved a beautiful epitaph
colorful wreathe and scented rose petals
you sought him out and he’s no more
all he labored for becomes insignificant
tell me why should a man go through this phase
the world has no pity, no remorse, no memory
he’s remembered but for a while
time will tell, someone else wears his shoes
time will tell, someone else lies on his bed
time, a betrayal of man

This is a powerful piece. It captures the weight of responsibility, silent struggles, and the painful reality that appreciation often comes too late. The closing lines linger long after the poem ends. Well written. ****** Joshstitches *****
