MY COMPANION

 

a buddy and a blessing 

who leaves me not when I’m stressing 

it caresses my mind with softness 

loves me more when I’m honest 

“pain never ends” he whispers with a smile 

we just have to find a way through life’s river Nile

be transparent in all your dealings 

life rewards those with clean doings 

with me, your life will be in ease 

no one will ride on you as they please 

because they know you are righteous and upright 

and you’ve overcome greed and its plight 

my conscience and my bestie 

who leaves my heart not to be dirty 

my main companion and crony 

who makes me assert my affirmations boldly 

my conscience whispers all the time 

“your worthy life is attractive like a lime”

“when death comes and your light dim”

“I’ll be proud to walk you through that heavenly road that blinks”
