THE NIGHT BEFORE

 

the night before it started 

the moon lit the street as usual

I was up clearly from a distance 

watching the whole beautiful street at a glance 

suddenly, a loud bang hits the city from the sky 

sending vibrations into every corners 

lava starts to pop from the earth 

screams and madness rends the sky 

sirens blared without remorse 

noise and pandemonium filled the arena 

still from the top of my window I watch 

the fumes and flames strolling up to the sky 

people levitating into air and zoom off to the sky 

terrified as I can be, I just sat there immobile 

just a bulb lit my room 

terrible blackouts in the city 

this city that had always been serene and peaceful 

has become a hub of hullabaloo 

I surely can’t explain the whole gory sight I saw 

even if I could, my mouth won’t bring forth words

this was the night before it started 

before rapture came and took it all

we are few left now in this world 

we have nowhere else to go
