WISH WE WERE YOUNG AGAIN
We forgot how it feels
the homely soil beneath our feet
memories slowly drift away now we’re older
adulthood feels like a curse
wish we were young again
growing up and old is not ours to bargain
we should have paused this life at our tender age
a gauge we should assuage
we found joy in thousand sins
acting different characters in similar scenes
we stutter when we were caught
after steering so much wrath
our adrenaline pumps every seconds
every minute, every hour it beckons
we do stunts that endangers us
our guardians were left in a state of fuss
down the lane we race
hands gliding through the flowers as we pace
we feel the world beneath our feet
exhausted, we stop to breathe
enjoying the tickles of rain drops on our skin
constant shivering from the cold, sleek shin
loud cheers as we run to the river to swim
we prayed so hard not to wake up from this dream
we fell in love unannounced
get late to school and we’re trounced
uniforms soiled, torn and patched
school bag loosened and latched
we forgot how it feels
the homely soil beneath our feet
memories slowly drift away now we’re older
adulthood feels like a curse
