WITHER AWAY

 

it’s funny how some believe too much in themselves 

believe in their wiles and charms 

thinking their reign is forever 

they are sick, not thinking clever 

their beauty shines, they wear pride 

teeth aligned and clean, they choose not to hide 

body so shaped and silk 

bunch of nuisance, mobile fools so sick 

life offers us nothing but thorny comfort 

it’s roses red, beautiful and will hurt us 

death, the only redeemer that saves us 

aim for heaven, going to hell is a lost course 

many people preach repentance 

forgetting many are redundant 

freedom we were given to make choices 

yet still, many of us still lament and make noises 

nothing is ever enough to satisfy our wants 

be it as it may, we still leave it all burnt 

sadness and joy are just residents in our mind

we neglect love and refuse to be kind 

at the end of life’s journey, we all wither away 

gone with no traces, no hope of replay 

our life’s nothing but a vapor 

vanity upon vanity, we all shall die poor
