I RUN THE RACE OF MY LIFE
I explore my childhood to it’s fullest
living carefree without fear
creating imaginary friends with love
soliloquizing insanely, all alone
all by myself I thought
I thought the world was just for cruise and flex
believing everything is subtle beneath me
my happiness knew no bound
right there on the red clay I mould
carve images and shapes that comes to my mind
either they are appealing or not
my artistry was top notch to me
as soon as the cloud gets pregnant we rejoice
we dance giddily in the rain
screaming at the top of our lungs
the strokes hit our skin in ecstasy
squirrel hunt is our happy game
grasshopper’s wings sounding melodious
fireflies lights up the walkway path at night
bush rustles, I run the race of my life
petrichor fills my lungs in awe
the smell of early morning dew on leaves
cock crowing as dawn greets our yam barn
I stretch as my stomach hurts from unripe fruits
