HOW DREAM DIES

 

she had always dreamed to become a footballer

trained so hard during her undergrad days 

but pressures pinned us down, society demands a lot 

she got overpowered, couldn’t pull through 

this is how dreams dies, she’s aged now 

a champion and good sprinter 

believed so much in himself even if no one does 

got an invitation to represent the state in nationals 

went giddy with joy and decided to celebrate with friends 

during celebration, got drunk and ran under a truck 

this is how dreams dies, leg’s got amputated 

a natural born swimmer but not a professional 

filled with so much talents but none had been promoted yet 

he got torn in-between saving a drowning soul at sea 

he knew that might be the end but he took no chances 

this is how dreams dies, the girl survived but sly didn’t 

 the only hope of her family 

sailed through school with borrowed funds 

they believed so much in her and her future 

got gang raped one night and left to die in the dark 

this is how dreams dies, she had gone rigor mortis before been found 

a blessing as a mother 

hustled all her life just to raise the kids after her husband demise 

ran plenty trades just to put food on the table 

her life cut short by a hit and run vehicle 

this is how dreams dies, children became orphans
