when the sky wasn’t far from the earth 

human were close to heavenly beings 

we shared common interest and views

when dews were pure and crystal 

chirping of birds were louder and melodious 

millipedes and centipedes were easy to find 

rainbow colors were complete and colorful

when the weather was predictable 

the rain give way when it’s season begins 

sky opens and the sun magnificently smiles down 

stars at night twinkles and shine brightest 

can you relate 

when the girl-child was taught how to conform 

become responsible at a tender age for her siblings 

learning from her mother how to be shaped for future 

to later become a pride for her family 

can you relate 

when harvesting was meaningful 

farmers were proud of their occupations

hunters were celebrated every now and then 

Ogun was given due accolades and worship 

can you relate

when nudity was never a crime

Rape and abuse was never in sight 

people walk around wearing nothing 

and everyone was focused and respected

can you relate 

when neighbors visits each other with love 

prays and make supplications for one another 

a society beautiful on the inside and outside 

the system believed in justice and equity 

can you relate 

a son been introduced to family occupation from birth

following his ancestral footsteps at his tender age 

knowing what the future holds
